New York Fashion Week; 2014 Spring Sportswear Influence

New York Fashion Week is another important event in fashion as numerous designer houses and labels represent their new collections for coming season. I have already introduced several collections and fashion shows and at this time I want to show you 2013 collections with athletic influence.

Sportswear influence is not an innovation in fashion industry and many designers have used this conception several times. During New York Fashion Week there were unexpected examples from designers who experienced athletic styles for the first time. Let’s investigate several designer collections for 2014 spring.

Lacoste is surely trendsetter for sportswear and it is not a surprise that Lacoste represented new 2014 spring collection during New York Fashion Week. Lacoste designers took inspiration from 1930s and many pieces have common details with retro styles.

Derek Lam is next designer to be mentioned who represented new collection with athletic influence. This collection too has many retro details. Color palette is subtle from white to navy, gray and yellow. Minimalistic style of clothing is spiced with stylish accessories like sandals and headwraps.

“It’s about ‘Westcoasting and about “the California lifestyle from Melrose to Malibu. Surfing, skating, sporty, colorful, modern, beautiful”;

That is how designer commented about Tommy Hilfiger new spring collection. New edition is bright, very stylish, versatile and full of colors. Besides of the line of comfortable and sexy pieces of clothing, designer house included selection of flat sandals and sneakers.

Less athletic allure is seen in J. Crew collection that includes several examples of lace dresses and blazers that are classy and don’t have athletic details. Still, this designer collection is included in this because alongside with those classy pieces the catwalk was full of casual and relaxed design with athletic influence.
